Mission Statement

The University of Chicago Association of Black Alumni (UCABA) was created to connect former black University of Chicago students young and old together to create a stronger black alumni community. The goal of this group is to develop professional relationships and build a cohesive network with the many talented men and women that came of age in the University. This group will include  graduates of the College, Law School, Business School, Harris School, SSA, and the many other great graduate programs the University offers.
UCABA seeks to provide a fluid pipeline to help current students adjust to life as an alumni. We will plan to be a valuable resource for current students and give a voice to black students, alumni and administration involved with the University of Chicago. We seek to mentor and support current students and prospective students in their pursuit of their respective degrees. Also we seek to support the University in its ongoing effort to increase sensitivity to the needs of students of the entire African and Caribbean Diaspora.
We intend to launch events targeted at career, professional and leadership development. In addition, we intend to host happy hours and entertainment events around major cities. Through the use of social media websites such as Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In we hope to create an open digital  networking community where alumni from various classes can connect. By taking advantage of University resources and other teaming with other Affinity groups, we will create opportunities to develop relationships across the alumni community.
