Event FAQ's


In addition to online registration, we are happy to take your registration by phone or mail.

Phone: Please call 773.702.2150.

Mail: If you plan to pay by mail, please call 773.702.2150 or the event contact person in advance so that your reservation is held for events that have a limited number of tickets. If your payment is not received within five business days of your call, your reservation will be removed from the list.

Reservations are due one week prior to the event. In addition, reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are not guaranteed until your payment has been received and processed.

Updates and Cancellations

Events may be rescheduled, postponed, or canceled by the Alumni Association due to low registration counts, weather, unavailability of volunteers/event hosts/speakers, or conflicts of any kind. If the event is canceled, registrants will receive a full refund. If the event is postponed, registrants will have the option to transfer registration to the new date of the rescheduled event or receive a full refund.

Refund Requests

Due to planning purposes, please know that events sponsored by the Alumni Association have fixed costs and we are not able to offer refunds in all cases. If you need to cancel your registration for an event, you must submit a refund request and include your registration confirmation number or the details of the event for which you've registered (including city and date) by contacting the Alumni Association at 773.702.2150 or uchicagoalumniassociation@uchicago.edu and then notifying the event contact of your request.

Carpooling is a great way to facilitate a more environmentally conscious community. If you are interested in carpooling to an event, please contact the event coordinator directly. The event coordinator will only contact you if there is another registrant who is also interested in sharing a ride. We cannot guarantee a ride and are unable to provide alternative transportation. 
Recognition Societies
Members of the Alumni Leadership Society, Chicago Society, Harper Society, and Phoenix Society are welcome to attend Harper Lectures with one guest free of charge when registering in advance. To take advantage of this benefit, or to request more information, email harperlectures@uchicago.edu with the event name, your name, the name of your guest, and your contact information. Be sure to include the name of the society of which you are a member.  More information and registrations is available at alumniandfriends.uchicago.edu/harperlectures.


What if I do not currently receive email or print notifications of events?

All University communications are directed to the most current address on file in our database. If you are not receiving notifications, it may be because we do not have the correct mailing or email address on file. Be sure your contact information is up-to-date with the Alumni Association. Update your contact information by logging into your club’s website and clicking on “Update My Profile” under the Welcome tab.
