appreccia-d.-faulknerMs. Faulkner is a speaker, thought leader and advisor. In 2017 She was one of seven Co-Chairs for The United State of Women Galvanize Chicago conference led by Valerie Jarrett and former White House Chief of Staff to Michelle Obama, Tina Chen. In 2011 she participated in The Festival of Thinkers Conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE with over 50 Nobel Laureates; she continues to speak on leadership, gender parity and the importance of diverse voices in global affairs at leading universities and businesses and conferences; she helped lead and advised an aldermanic campaign; and most recently, she is a regular monthly contributor on the radio show The Millennials on WJOU.


Appreccia is a native Chicagoan who graduated from Kennedy-King College with an Associates
and later studied Political Science and International Affairs at George Washington University in Washington D.C. and Chicago State University. Before founding Global Strategists Association in 2013 Appreccia spent over 10 years in the financial sector with BMO Harris, Bank of America and J.P. Morgan Chase. She is a regular volunteer, serves on several boards and mentors countless young women and men who aspire to pursue new heights in global affairs and beyond. She is the 2017 recipient of the Global Connections Award from Girls Like Me, and the 2018 recipient of the Women Empowered for Civic Engagement Purple Passion Award.  Appreccia is a member of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy and the United Nations Association - Chicago Chapter.

Erica Okeizie-Phillips, Education Officer & Senior Researcher, Ontario Ministry of Education, Toronto Ontario, Canada
erica-okeizie-phillipsErica Okezie-Phillips is an Education Officer and Senior Researcher at the Ontario Ministry of Education. In this role, Erica builds cross-divisional and inter-ministerial capacity in research, evaluation and knowledge mobilization. She is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and leading the joint work that results from these collaborations. Currently, Erica coordinates the ministry’s work on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, Ontario’s response to a national inquiry on Ending Violence against Indigenous Women.

Gem McCreary, Founder, TalentoTotal - Bogotá, Colombia
gem-mccrearyGem is the Founder and CEO of TalentoTotal, an international non-profit organization that aims to make the business landscape in Latin America more competitive and inclusive by accelerating the careers of high-achieving women and men from underrepresented communities, specifically Afro-descendant and Indigenous (ADI) – through coaching, professional development, and leadership training to increase the number of diverse leaders in businesses and organizations. Gem has over 15 years of experience as a multifunctional global leader, having served as an Army Officer (AH-64D Attack Helicopter Pilot) and international financier in Citigroup’s premier leadership banking program, the Global Engagement Management Associate Program (GEMA) and West Point Graduate. Gem speaks English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Terrell J. Starr, Senior Global Correspondent, The Root - New York, New York
terrellstarrTerrell Jermaine Starr is the senior reporter at The Root, where he writes about U.S.-Russia politics and race in America. Previously, he worked at Foxtrot Alpha (another GMG site), a blog that focuses on military, technology and policy. In 2016, he was FUSION's national political correspondent covering the 2016 presidential campaign. He lived Ukraine as a Fulbright fellow, and Georgia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Starr has over four years of experience living in the former Soviet Union and more than 10 years working as a reporter. Starr uses his media skills to break down Russia-U.S. relations in ways that make him not sound like a Washington or a New York hack.

Starr has a masters degree in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies and another masters in Journalism (focus on EU-former communist bloc countries) from the University of Illinois. He is a graduate of Philander Smith College, an HBCU in Little Rock, Ark., where he earned a bachelors in English.
